I spent the other day, almost two hours in the new Sculpture Park, that is located at the Cavo Greco- Kryo Nero junction, in Ayia Napa and I think I photographed all the statues that decorate the open museum. You know what? I didn’t even realised I had spent two whole hours there! This place, is a photographer’s dream! Stunning sculptures against the vivid blue background of the Mediterranean. Don’t believe me? Take a look at the following pictures!
Let’s make it clear. Ayia Napa is not all about the sun, the beaches and the wild parties! The Sculpture Park, the new jewel of the Municipality of Ayia Napa, is a breath of culture in the free province of Famagusta. Just what the town needed, that is. It is worth stopping here, in between your swimming, at the beautiful seas of the area; just choose to visit it early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Oh, and don’t forget to bring your sunscreen and hat, as it is an open space with no shade.
My favourite, and in all probability the most famous sculpture in the park, is that of Vasilis Vasiliades, entitled “Gate”. During my walk at the Open Museum, I saw at least 8 people being photographed there, while some came exclusively for a photo shoot at the renowned white “Gate”.
Entrance is free, and in the future the Sculpture Park will enhance its collection with more works of art. I chose, my 12 favourite sculptures and I present them to you in the following collection. Enjoy them!
